Applying for an ITIN

Danielle Kimbrough (NxtLevl Professional Services, LLC) IRS Authorized Acceptance Agent

An ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) is issued by the IRS to individuals who are required for federal tax purposes to have a U.S. taxpayer identification number but who don’t have and aren’t eligible to get a social security number (SSN). You can apply for an ITIN for you, your spouse, and your dependents when you prepare your tax return with NxtLevl Professional Services, LLC.
Required documentation needed to apply for an ITIN number?
The documentation you provide must be current (that is, not expired). If you submit an original passport or a certified copy from the issuing agency, you do not need to submit any other documents from the table.

* Can be used to establish foreign status only if they are foreign documents.

Applying for an ITIN

New ITIN

You are eligible to apply for an ITIN with the IRS if you have a tax filing requirement. Note: You cannot e-file a return using an ITIN in the calendar year the ITIN is assigned. Once your ITIN is assigned, you can e-file returns in the following years. For example, if you apply for and receive an ITIN in 2021, you may not e-file any tax return using that ITIN until 2022.
We will work with you either in person or via zoom to complete the W-7, review supporting documents, prepare your packet and mail it to the IRS. During the process we will continue to contact the IRS ITIN unit on your behalf.
  • ITIN Packet will consist of tax return, IRS Form(s) W-7, copies, or original documents as required by the IRS regulations and the Acceptance Agent’s Certificate of Accuracy (COA).
  • Please be aware that neither the IRS nor the AA can guarantee the issuance of an ITIN if you use the services of a AA.

Renewing your ITIN

Renewing your ITIN Your ITIN may expire if it was not used on a federal income tax return in the last three years OR ITINs with middle digits of 88, 90, 91,92, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, or 99 (Example: (9XX-70-XXXX).
An expired ITIN can delay your tax refund and make you ineligible for certain tax credits, such as the Child Tax Credit and the American Opportunity Tax Credit, until your ITIN is renewed.
All family members who were issued an ITIN may submit a Form W-7 at the same time. If you have filing requirement, you should file the return with the renewing application.
*Be sure to attach all required supporting documentation from the table above.
